Don is retired from Navy civil service and was an IT consultant supporting the Department of Defense. He worked over 32 years during his career mostly for the Navy and retired in 2003 while supporting the Naval Sea Systems Command at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington DC. After retirement, he went back to work as an IT consultant for Booz Allen Hamilton supporting the Dept of Defense for eight years. Don went into the army when he was 19 and served a year in Vietnam. He is proud to be a veteran and supports active duty military.   Don is a widower and has worked to make Garnerland in Luray a great vacation spot.

Don's has four children, multiple grandchildren and loves dogs. Hospitality at Garnerland in Luray is handled by Don and he lives in his Mancave apartment located in the garage.

About the Vacation Rentals   (Garnerland I, II and III)                   
Garnerland I.  The ramp leads you to the Guest House rental door, where above it is a sign: A HAPPY PLACE.  Garnerland I is a  cozy and spacious log cabin Guesthouse and is situated along the Appalachian Mountains and near the fascinating Luray Caverns in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. A guest house off of a larger home which is also a vacation rental (Garnerland III).  This log cabin will make vacationers feel right at home. It has the ability to accommodate up to six guests comfortably.  Garnerland I  boasts two bedrooms and one full bathroom with jetted tub and a walk-in shower. The master bedroom features a king-size bed, while the loft contains a queen-size bed and two twin-size beds. If guests require any additional sleeping room they can utilize the pull-out sofa bed found in the living area. The open plan great room on the first floor will be a welcome site after a long day of hiking in the hills. With a comfortable couch, plush reclining chairs, a 52" flat-screen television, and a remote controlled gas log fireplace. Guests will be able to finish a good book and rest their feet. Those who love to cook will enjoy preparing meals in the spacious kitchen, which is appointed with appliances such as an oven, stove, microwave, refrigerator (with icemaker), dishwasher, toaster, and a coffee maker, as well as necessary cookware, dishes, and cutlery. Meals can be shared either indoors around the dining table or outside on the spacious deck fitted with an additional dining set. A barbecue grill can also be utilized on the porch and a fire pit in the backyard, making it easy to spend enjoying each other’s company under the vast Virginia sky.

Garnerland II is a cozy Guesthouse we remodeled into a great two bedroom rental.  It was completely finished in Oct 2019 and is a proud addition to Garnerland.  This Guesthouse has accommodations’ for six people and has all new appliances including a washer/dryer, refrigerator (with ice maker), dishwasher, stove, microwave, coffee pot, etc.  The guesthouse is decorated beautifully and has a combination of hardwood floors and tile.  There is plenty of seating available and a 50 inch TV with WIFI.  You will love this beautiful rental located above a huge garage with its own private entrance with plenty of privacy

Garnerland III is the main house and could actually sleep 10 people but the owner has a six person limit.  It has four bedrooms, two baths, laundry room, private screened in porch, gas fireplace, gas grill, beautiful kitchen, wrap around porch, a breathtaking all wood interior, ceiling fans everywhere and great WIFI.  The interior of this house is beautiful...just look at the pictures.  Garnerland III is one of the prettiest and nicest log cabins in the area and sits on three acres of land.  A new firpit was recently added and firewood is provided.
